Panto group benefit from Citizen grant

In January the fund, set up in partnership with MK Community Foundation, donated £1,500 to Waterhall Stars Football Club.

This month we are proud to award £526 to MacIntyre for its Panto Group, one of its Lifelong Learning projects for adults with learning difficulties, to help members produce and perform their own original pantomime.

MacIntyre supports 200 people in MK living with learning disabilities, helping them feel good about themselves while staying safe and healthy.

The Panto Group received the grant to fund costumes and theatre hire so that their pantomime could go ahead. Members wrote the play, made props and worked together to design their own pantomime Arnie and Friends.

Becky Legh a spokesman for MacIntyre said: “We’re so grateful for this funding which made Arnie and Friends possible.

“This project is so important because the whole group contributed to all aspects of the production and were really proud that it was such a successful event. The cast loved performing to a crowd and expressing themselves through drama and song.”

MK Council estimates 4,607 people over the age of 18 are living in Milton Keynes with a learning disability.

The Citizen has teamed up with MK Community Foundation to mark its 30th year of supporting Milton Keynes, to award a grant each month to charities and community groups which help make Milton Keynes a great place to live work and raise a family.
