Bank holiday visitors to Ouzel Valley Park face an expensive dilemma.
For bungling council officials have slapped a residents’ parking only sign in front of the Parks Trust’s car park at the end of Woodall Close, near the River Ouzel and south bank of Willen Lake.
Non-residents of the Close already face £35 fines for parking in the street without a permit. But earlier this week the council erected a fifth sign at the entrance to the car park which is free for visitors.
A resident said: “It beggars belief. The residents had asked the council to erect signs on the exit to the car park to remind visitors they were entering a controlled street.
“But they’ve put it in the wrong place and facing the wrong way – so many legitimate visitors to the park are turning round and driving off again.
“We have sent photos to the council telling them what has happened – but there’s been no response.”
A Parks Trust spokesman said: “The sign is on the highway which is MK Council land, not ours.”
The council said it will be looking into the matter.
