Pete Winkelman goes back to school!

Football boss joins mayor to open revamped school

It was back to school for MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman who officially opened the revamped and extended Barleyhurst Primary School in Bletchley.

A 2 million project has provided an extension of the ICT suite and foundation class, creation of canopied outside facilities, parking and parent drop-off point together with a new landscaping scheme.

New central heating, re-flooring of the building and provision of new toilets were also part of the scheme at the 210-place school which replaces Wellsmead infant and junior schools at Hereford Place.

Pupils helped staff take parents on a tour of the new facilities.

Head of governors, Lisa Rodriguez, praised Milton Keynes Council officers, contractors Rok and others involved in the project.

She said: "The support everyone has shown has been out of this world and we now have a fantastic school as a result."

Pete Winkelman said it was "another example of the UK's youngest, fastest-growing new city providing fantastic facilities and investing in young people".
