Police stop drivers with excessively tinted windows

Thames Valley Police officers in Milton Keynes carried out a road safety check for excessively tinted car windows last Thursday as part of Operation Didactic. Between 8am and 12 noon officers from the Roads Policing department checked 41 vehicles.

Thames Valley Police issued a total of eight prohibition notices, 35 fixed penalty notices, and four were issued with Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme notices for varying levels of excessive tint on car windows.

The remaining 19 were found to have windows where light transmission was found to be between 44 per cent and 30 per cent this incurred a fine of £30 and no penalty points.

Eight were given prohibition notices where light transmission was measured at below 10 per cent. Four were issued with Vehicle Defect Rectification scheme notices where light transmission was between 69 per cent and 45 per cent. Two drivers had no action taken against them.

Well said, Redial. And while they're bothered, can they also do all the illegal number plates, bald tyres and people without 2 full headlights.

Wish they'd stop all the unregistered, untaxed and maybe uninsured European registered cars driving around MK. There's been an Italian and a Latvian car in my road since I moved here 2 years ago! Easy to do just go into the company car parks!
