Primary school takes African trip

A PRIMARY school has been getting in touch with African culture after a special week of activities.

Pupils at Edmund de Moundeford School, in Feltwell, have been taking part in activities ranging from making clay houses to playing African music.

The school also welcomed a range of visitors during the week, including pupils from Methwold High School who had recently visited Kenya as a part of their studies.

There was a visit from another familiar face – retired headteacher Stephen Kite, who returned for a day to share his experiences of life in Africa and to play some African music with the children.

The highlight of the week was a visit from artist Jacqui Jones, who took pupils through African-themed workshops.

Sessions included work with clay, textiles and the production of four large panels for the school’s entrance area.

Ms Jones worked at the school for two days, taking every group from reception to Year 6.

Julie Lillycrop, headteacher, said: “It was fantastic seeing the children so engaged working together. I look forward to seeing the parents enjoy the artwork which will be on display soon.”
