OTHER people’s scrap has been turned into a flourishing business by an enterprising group of Stantonbury sixth formers.

The nine teenagers formed their own company called Scrap That and use old comics, papers and map to cover recycled stationary.

The resulting products, sold for around £5 each, have become an instant trend with fellow students.

In fact the business in booming to such an extent that the team has to stay in after school and form a mini production line to keep up with the demand.

Scrap That marketing director Tom Dexter said: “It’s strange when we see all these people walking round school with our notepads. We think ‘wow, we made that. That was one of our first designs.’”

His company colleagues are Gemma Bowker, who is managing director, Daniel Ward, Charlie Benjafield, Michael Griggs, Owen Thomas, Joe Bulman, Lizzy Dyson and Jessica Meakin.

The teenagers source the scrap themselves, even visiting Willen Hospice to make donations for old papers.

On Sunday the company, formed under the Young Enterprise Scheme, will make its first public appearance at the trade fair at CMK.

Their stand will be in Middleton Hall between 11am and 5pm. Or you can order online at www.scrapthatstationary.co.uk.
