Recruitment at a new supermarket which is set to employ up to 100 people is now under way.
The new Sainsbury’s store in Shenley Church End is set to open in the summer and will create around 60 full and part-time positions for people from the local area across a wide variety of roles.
In addition, staff at the existing Sainsbury’s Local in Shenley will also transfer to the new store.
The roles available include team leaders, positions on the shop floor, in the warehouse and in the store offices.
Positions are being advertised online at http://sains burys.jobs/search and this will be updated periodically over the coming weeks as new positions are advertised.
New Shenley Church Endstore manager, Simon Ainger, who has worked for the company for 18 years, said: “Being a local resident myself, I am looking forward to working closely with the local community and I’m excited that recruitment for our new store is starting with new jobs being created locally.
“Our Sainsbury’s Localhas been a very popular store with local residents since it opened in November 2011.
“Our new store will enable us to offer a much wider selection of our great food ranges right in the heart of Shenley local centre.”
The new store will offer a range of new fresh food counters including fish, meat, pizza, hot food and deli counters together with an in-store bakery and salad bar.
Construction of the new store began in August 2013 and workers are currently in the process of completing the internal fit-out of the store, following the recent completion of the construction work.
Alongside the new store, Sainsbury’s is also recruiting for positions at the Milton Keynes and Bletchley stores.
Sainsbury’s was the first ever food retailer to receive gold accreditation from Investors in People, which has recently been renewed, in recognition of the range of training opportunities for staff members.
The company’s You Can scheme includes opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications and has helped 17,500 people into work.
