Rugby ‘scrumbags’ can’t tackle security

VANDALS determined to cause havoc at Milton Keynes Rugby Club have finally met their match.

The ‘scrumbags’ caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to the new purpose-built clubhouse in Emerson Valley this summer.

The club, which has more than 200 years of history, moved there in March last year from Greenleys.

After the vandal attack, it called in experts from Stanair Industrial door services.

This month the company fitted security grilles to the building – and almost immediately found themselves facing the ultimate ‘try’.

For the determined vandals returned and spent 20 minutes attempting to penetrate the security system.

Finally they fled, leaving the building intact.

Stanair spokesman Simon Barnicoat said: “We are proud. It is vital this club is able to operate and be a key part of the community knowing they have security from vandals and thieves.”

And club president John Silk adedd: “While it’s disappointing that a small minority want to spoil things for our players, we know that good security is an important part of any business and our investment with Stanair has proved its worth.”

Milton Keynes RFC, which has more than 140 young members on its books, also hires the clubhouse out for community use.
