A new Sainsbury’s supermarket will open in Shenley Church End next week.
It will be opened by Georgia Stiel from Two Mile Ash school, who won the summer active drawing competition, on Wednesday, June 25, at 9am.
The store will feature a wide selection of fresh food counters including fish, meat, pizza, hot food and deli counters together with an ins-tore bakery and a sala bar all alongside a wider selection of foods and other items than the existing Sainsbury’s Local.
Shenley Church End’s new store has created 60 jobs, which have been filled by local residents in addition to staff at the Sainsbury’s Local who have transferred over to the new store.
“We are all really excited to be opening our new store in Shenley Church End, which will offer a wider selection of items than our existing Sainsbury’s Local,” said store manager Simon Ainger.
“Since the Local opened it has proven very popular and we are really looking forward to continuing to work closely with the community at our new store.”
In advance of the store opening there will be an open day event at the existing Sainsbury’s Local on Friday, June 20 between 9am and 4pm.
At the event, store colleagues will be on hand to explain the opening arrangements for the new supermarket and what it will offer in comparison to the existing Sainsbury’s Local.
The Sainsbury’s Local in Shenley Church End will remain open as normal until it closes at 11pm on Tuesday, June 24.
