More than 100 people turned out for skiing lessons with a difference at SNO!zone on Saturday – from Great Britain Olympic rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave.
The event was part of the Slide2Sochi Winter Olympic roadshow in the build-up to next year’s Games, with the aim of getting more people into skiing and snowboarding.
And joining in with the fun was five-time Olympic rowing gold medallist Steve Redgrave, who just so happens to be a qualified ski instructor.
He was joined by former sprinter Iwan Thomas, who was trying skiing again after a 20 year break, and five-time Olympian and BBC Ski Sunday producer Graham Bell, who was giving snowboarding a go.
And to add to the Olympic buzz at Xscape, junior Great Britain snowboarders Becky Menday and Will Gilmore took the opportunity to show off their skills, as the bobsleigh team were inundated with people who wanted to pose for pictures and try on their gear.
Sir Steve said: “It has been a pleasure giving out tips to people who are trying skiing for the first time. I have always loved skiing with my family and it is great to see so many people here in Milton Keynes.”
