Sofi adds a tash of flair to her wardrobe

OU worker raises cash for prostate cancer

Sofi-Ona Hamer has added some novel accessories to her work clothes during November – a series of eye-catching moustaches.

The 44-year-old Open University media assistant is taking part in 'Movember,' a campaign to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Sofi-Ona learned about the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the dangers of prostate cancer, from a work colleague.

The psychology graduate has been wearing a daily themed 'tash' that comes largely from her own large wardrobe, as well as borrowing from friends and scouring charity shops.

Her costumes include cowboy 'horseshoe', the Charlie Chaplin 'toothbrush', the Michael Atter 'handlebar' or the 'pencil' moustache worn by Gomez Adams from The Adams Family.

Sofi-Ona said: "I decided to challenge myself to this and it has been a very insightful experience. Many people couldn't tell if I was male or female and I even had women hitting on me.

"The youth of today are too wrapped up in brand names and one trend that they don't see the gems that are all around.

"When I tell people why I am doing this so many have told me their experiences with prostate cancer. I am doing it to give men in need a sporting chance as there is so much focus on women that men need some exposure too."

The Prostate Cancer Charity has been running for three years. Studies reveal that one man dies of prostate cancer every hour in the UK.
