Taking the reins in more ways than one
THIS sort of Sheriff isn’t associated usually with cowboys, but she’s getting on horseback anyway.
Carolyn Cumming, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, saddled up to ride from the north to the south of the county this week to raise funds for and awareness of community groups and charities.
Her campaign got under way on Sunday at the Cowper and Newton Museum in Olney before moving on to Newport Pagnell later in the day.
She also visited several projects throughout Milton Keynes on Monday, including St John Ambulance in Greenleys and Ride High in Great Brickhill.
Ms Cumming said: “I firmly believe that the well-being of any community begins with local people, and especially with our voluntary groups and charitable organisations.
“Their contribution can easily be overlooked in a world where national media dominates.”
