A school’s project to turn an old bus into a library has been given a £1,000 boost from a Tesco Express store.

Recently Tesco Express Woburn Sands store manager, Jess Walker, went to Swallowfield Lower School to present them with a cheque for £1,000 after they won a Helping Hand competition which was ran in store.

As part of the competition local residents and shoppers were asked to nominate their favourite charities and organisations, to give them a chance of receiving a £1,000 donation.

Jess and her staff looked through all the nominations made by the Woburn Sands community, eventually deciding on Swallowfield Lower School’s library project as the winner – whose pioneering plan is to turn a double decker bus into a mobile school library to improve pupil literacy skills.
