The Citizen says name Station Square after Olympic champion Greg Rutherford
THE gateway to Milton Keynes should be named after Olympic hero Greg Rutherford.
The recently rejuvenated Station Square is yet to be officially named by Milton Keynes Council, and here at the Citizen, we believe that the Ginger Wizard’s name would lend itself perfectly to the location.
Through social networking websites, the city has been debating how best to celebrate Rutherford’s Olympic long jump gold medal win on Saturday night.
Two post boxes in Central Milton Keynes have already been painted gold in recognition of his fantastic achievement, and a commemorative stamp has been launched by Royal Mail capturing the 25-year-old in full flight as he jumped 8.31m in London. They are available from the Post Office in Queensway, Bletchley and CMK.
Some people have also called for a roundabout to be named in his honour following presenter John Inverdale’s tongue-in-cheek comments on TV which has prompted support on Twitter and Facebook.

Milton Keynes Council says it is currently looking into the possibilities of how to celebrate Rutherford’s success, and we want your ideas.
