Three-legged walk record attempt falls short
But another record could be broken after review from Guinness
A three legged walk record attempt was cut short after 12 hours due to injury, but they still might stroll into the record books.
Charlie Wardle and Steve Burnett were halfway through their gruelling 24 hour challenge and were on target to smash the record, reaching an amazing 40 miles in just 12 hours, before they were forced to retire with a mixture of sprained ankles and sore hips.
After speaking to Guinness, the pairs efforts may still be recognised as a new record for 12 hours.
Charlie said: "The challenge was hellish, the hardest thing either of us have ever done. On the one hand we are disappointed not to have done it but there is light at the end of the tunnel. If it can be recognised as a record it will be worth it."
The second world record attempt, to have the most pairs taking part in a race at any one time, fell short of the 190 pair requirement with 122 pairs competing.
