A 45 year old woman and 46 year old man were arrested in Milton Keynes on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy to cheat the public revenue in an £88,000 VAT fraud.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) criminal investigators swooped on January 31 on residential premises in the new city and Letchworth.

Those arrested have been bailed to March 13 and 14, whilst investigations continue.

HM Revenue & Customs spokesman Bob Gaiger said: “We urge people to work more closely with us in the fight against VAT fraud and encourage people aware of anyone involved in this type of crime to contact the Customs Hotline 0800 59 5000 or email customs.hotline@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk.”
