Two men have been jailed for burglary and assaulting police officers in Bletchley.

James Connor, aged 44, and Daniel White, aged 20, both of no fixed abode, took part in a quick series of burglaries at houses in Hampshire Court on August 6.

Police were called as the fourth burglary was happening and when confronted, Connor and White assaulted the officers using a screwdriver.

Due to the level of force used against them, officers were unable to detain the two burglars. They then made off in a stolen vehicle leading to a high speed police chase through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, reaching speeds of 168 mph. The getaway vehicle was found abandoned in Hertfordshire.

Subsequent investigations by Thames Valley Police lead to the arrests of Connor and White who were remanded in custody.

Connors pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary and assaulting a police officer. He was sentenced to four years and one month imprisonment at Amersham Crown Court on Friday, September 28.

White pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary, assaulting a police officer and dangerous driving. He was sentenced to five years and six months in prison.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Paul Lilley said: “This was a case of burglaries in homes where the victims were elderly and vulnerable. All of the victims have been traumatised by what happened.

“I hope these sentences send a message to those that consider committing such crimes that you will be pursued, caught and dealt with robustly by both the police and the criminal justice system.”
