A Milton Keynes children’s society has put out an SOS appeal for more adoptive parents.
St Francis Children’s Society has a “huge gap” between the number of children on its books and the number of people willing to consider adoption.
This month, in a bid to promote more interest, it has gone back to basics with a region-wide poster campaign.
The posters dispel some of the myths about adoption. They make it clear that people who are over 40, single or in a same-sex relationship are all eligible to adopt a child.
“We welcome all kinds of adopters, regardless of age, race, cultural background, religion, marital status or sexual orientation,” said a spokesman Vicky Hunt.
Now the society is asking for volunteers to put up posters in their area to attract as many viewers as possible
Vicky said: “We need help to really spread the word about our services and allay any concerns which might be preventing people from coming forward.”
Anybody willing to help should contact Vicky on MK 572700 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
