They are a cut above the rest and have earned the title Hair Salon of the Year to prove it.
Universal Hair Studios, of Grange Farm, Milton Keynes, received the highest number of votes in the Citizen’s hugely popular Salon of the Year 2014 competition.
The contest, which launched in May, was your chance to vote for Milton Keynes’ number one hair and beauty salon.
And readers wasted no time in getting touch with the Citizen inundating the newesdesk with nominations. These were then scaled down to a shortlist of 12 most popular salons – with Universal Hair Salon being crowned the overall winner.
The Citizen visited the winning team at Universal on Tuesday to congratulate owner Nikki Bennett with a special certificate.
Said Nikki, who also runs a second salon in Broughton said: “It’s fantastic news.
“I’m so happy and excited.
“We were delighted to be nominated but never expected to win so this is a really wonderful achievement.”
Nikki puts the secret of Universal’s success down to the hard work and professionalism of the team.
Added Nikki: “It’s all down to team work. All our staff are well trained and very experienced, but above all it’s a really friendly team.
“Our clients come first and staff will always go out of their way to accommodate their needs.
“So we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients for helping us win. We’re so proud of this achievement.”
Both salons are also proud of their role in the community which involves fund raising for Willen Hospice .
Nikki started the business eight years ago, launching her first salon at Grange Farm in 2007 and the salon in Tanfield Road, Broughton, a year later. She was working as a retail manager for a salon in Olney, decided to launch her own business and has not looked back since. She added: “It’s been a great success, largely due to our staff. They are a very hardworking team and nothing is too much trouble. They will always go above and beyond so they deserve it.
“ I will be taking the whole team down to London to celebrate.”
