This week’s volunteering opportunities from Community:MK

> CLIC Sargent volunteer representative for Milton Keynes

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading children and young people’s cancer charity, and this year they are training volunteers who can give a few hours a week to work.

The team will visit schools, clubs and other local groups to talk about the work of CLIC Sargent, and attend award ceremonies, and fundraising events.

Volunteers will need energy and passion, and be comfortable with public speaking – although you don’t need lots of experience as you will be provided with support, training and all the information about the charity that you need.

This role will take up around six hours a month, agreed on a month-by-month basis depending on your availability and the dates of events.

>Beating Bowel Cancer

bucket collector at centre:mk

Are you free to give up two hours of your time between 9am-5pm on Friday, August 22? Being a collector for Beating Bowel Cancer is a wonderful opportunity to meet other collectors, learn more about the charity and talk to the public.

Each volunteer will be told how much they personally raised, plus the total raised by the whole team, so you know exactly how much your time has helped.

>Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) honorary treasurer

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), a national user-led charity supporting spinal cord injured people and their families, is seeking an experienced Honorary treasurer (ideally a chartered accountant) to join its Board of Trustees.

In addition to fulfilling the usual duties, obligations and responsibilities of a trustee, the honorary treasurer will monitor the financial matters of the charity and report to the board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. A knowledge of Charities SORP would be advantageous.

The volunteer will be co-opted to the board for a one-year term and will be required to attend their quarterly meetings and AGM.
