Volunteers who have been working to set up a new community group for young people and adults will hold a launch event on Saturday.

Working closely with schools and MK College, the Civil Cadet Corps is for 12 to 18-year-olds and The Joint Civil Aid Volunteer Corps for adults.

Amanda Inkley, of the organisation, said: “It is based on Civil Aid - what used to be called Civil Defence - and as a paramilitary group it will encourage people to help in their community and further afield, even abroad eventually once we are trained, in times of crisis and need.

“We have all put a lot of hard work into developing the corps and are having an open event at the MK library on Saturday 26th April.”

The event at the Silbury Boulevard library will take place between 10am and 2pm.

The organisation’s website www.jointcivilaidcorps.org.uk will be going live on Friday.
