A 19-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted in an incident on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for any witnesses to the incident which took place between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday.

The victim was walking through the underpass under the V6 Grafton Gate, next to the skateboarding site and the side of the bus station, when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man grabbed hold of her and led her away from the underpass to the stair that lead to the back of the skateboard site where he forced her to touch him inappropriately. He then let the victim go and walked off past the bus station.

Detective Constable John Swallow, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was obviously a very frightening incident for the victim who was led to believe that the man would hurt her if she did not do as he asked.

“I am keen to speak to any witnesses to this incident. I am particularly keen to trace a group of four men that the victim walked passed in the underpass after the incident and a couple who she saw walking close to Argos prior to the incident - the woman in that couple was wearing a distinctive pink hat and white coat.”

The offender is white, around 5ft 4ins, 19 to 20-years-old, with a slim build, freckles on his nose and small eyes. He was wearing a dark coloured coat, dark coloured jeans and a dark blue scarf around his mouth,

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact Det Con Swallow via the Force enquiry centre on 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
