A MAN has been given a top honour by St John Ambulance after 50 years of community service.

Roger Jefcoate CBE, from Mursley, has been volunteering at the service in Greenleys.

He carries out free fundraising workshops nationally to help bring in money to the charity.

Roger was recently rewarded with the title of Serving Brother in the Order of St John – the equivalent of an MBE of behalf of the service.

He said: “This very welcome award is my first official county recognition of more than 50 years of community service and voluntary charity work in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

“I was born and bred in Buckinghamshire and have live here all my life.”

Among his other volunteering work, Roger works with the Medical Detection Dogs charity in Aylesbury, various Wildlife Trusts and conservation charities in Bucks, Beds and Herts.
