Malcolm hands over baton after 37 years!

Musical Director Malcolm Crane will hand over his musical baton after one final concert this Saturday.

Malcolm's dedication to music in the area is almost unrivalled – he has spent a whopping 37 years directing musical societies in the new city.

In his time, Malcolm has held positions with many groups and he is a former Deputy Head of Milton Keynes Music Service.

"When I first moved to the city in 1972 I founded the Sherwood Choral Society – which is still in existence today," Malcolm said.

"I found I really enjoyed the process of directing – taking a group of people from their first tentative steps through to the final production – so it grew from there."

He has spent the past 10 years working with the Music Makers of Milton Keynes.

Saturday's show – conducting the ensemble at Stantonbury Campus Theatre will be his last, and he promises that this really is a show for everyone.

"We've chosen a range of songs from the silver screen ranging from well-known show-stoppers to lesser known tunes, so there will be something for everyone," he said.

The concert will also feature dancers from the Juliet Ratnage School of Performing Arts, and a live band. Tickets are 9 and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Call 1st Night for tickets on MK 262250.

Malcolm will be retiring to Suffolk. It would be lovely to think of him heading off with an almighty round of applause for so many years dedication.

Let's hear it for Malc!
