A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Fishermead last night.

The victim, who is her thirties, is in a critical condition at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Police arrested the man, 38, at the scene of the attack at around 11pm. He remains in custody.

There are extra patrols in the area, but police believe the victim and her attacker knew each other.

Det Ch Insp Kelly Glister of Force CID said: “This was a serious incident which has left the female victim in a critical condition.

“However it is believed that those involved in the incident were known to each other.

“We have carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area and are making extensive enquiries with a specialist team to determine the events leading up to this incident.”

Milton Keynes Deputy LPA Commander Chief Insp Paul Halstead added: “There is likely to be a scene watch in place for several days as we continue with our investigation. In addition there will be extra patrols in the area.

“If anyone has any information or concerns about this incident we would ask them to speak to patrol officers or call 101.”
