A man who dodged a car driving towards him at speed was attacked as he tried to run to safety.
The 42-year-old victim was walking along Fishermead Boulevard in Fishermead in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He jumped onto the pavement after hearing a car come towards him as he crossed the road near to Helford Place.
As he tried to runaway along Tolcalne Avenue to get home, the victim fell and while he was on the ground, two men got out of the same car run and kicked him to his side.
When he called out for help, the suspect fled the scene in the car, leaving him with an injured knee and bruising, which required hospital treatment.
The two offenders were black, with one clearly taller than the other, and both spoke with an English accent.
Det Con Kathryn Combstock said: “A passer-by, who possibly witnessed the assault, came to the victim’s aid and helped him to walk home to safety.
“Officers would like to identify this person, who may be able to assist with enquiries. There may also be other witnesses who were in the vicinity at the time.
“Anyone with any information can call Thames Valley Police on the non-emergency number 101.”
