Man battered by snooker ball inside sock

A man was struck in the face with a snooker ball hidden inside a sock while outside a pub in New Bradwell.

At around 10.30pm, in Bradwell Road near the Foresters pub near the mini-roundabout on Newport Road, the 28-year-old victim suffered a large gash on his cheek, a suspected broken nose and a badly bruised elbow.

He was taken to hospital via ambulance. He has since been discharged.

One offender is white, between 6ft 2ins and 6ft 3ins, slim, has short brown hair and was wearing a grey and red-striped jumper and jeans.

Another offender is aged in his thirties with short receding brown hair, and is of large build. The third offender is of mixed race, of large build and had long dark hair.

PC James Elliott said: “This was a nasty assault which could have easily resulted in the severe injury of the male who was assaulted.

“I would like to ask anybody who saw or heard anything in or around the Foresters pub at the time of the offence to please come forward and speak to Thames Valley Police.”

A 29-year-old man from Whitnash, Leamington Spa, has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning ABH and has been bailed until February 29, 2016.
