Man fined £100 for NOT parking in Central Milton Keynes

An angry motorist has hit out and warned other drivers after receiving a hefty £100 fine for NOT parking.

Roger Lee, 59, was in Central Milton Keynes taking his granddaughter to a Centre:MK Christmas event.

Roger explains: “I went to park in the Avebury car park last month, there were no spaces so I left the car park after simply driving round.

“I didn’t stop and I didn’t park.”

Nine days later, Roger received a £100 parking fine, which stated he ‘failed to make a valid payment.’

The ticket also shows the time Roger entered and exited the car park - just 12 minutes apart.

Roger added: “I went on their website to appeal because there was no way I was paying for not parking, only to find out that the process the company uses to submit appeals, was no longer in use.

“There was no alternative way of appealing and it was such a huge hassle.

“Considering the number of shoppers who will be trying to park up this time of year, this will be a major money spinner.”

The multi-storey car park is located in the Theatre District near the Xscape and is owned by Britannia Parking.

Roger added: “This would be really upsetting for anyone who is just trying to do some Christmas shopping, being slapped with a fine of that size just before the holiday’s could be devastating.

“I tried not to panic because I knew I had not done anything wrong, and there’s no way I’m not going to win my appeal.

“It’s added stress and hassle that nobody needs or wants.”

Britannia Parking refused to comment on the fine.
