Charlie Wardle, the founder of city based charity, Climb Your Mountain, has completed his challenge of 30 marathons in 30 days.
Although injury prevented him from running all of them he did still manage the 786 miles by using a wheelchair handbike, an old mountain bike and an Elliptigo. The challenge also saw over one hundred people take part and 40 of them completing a full marathon with Charlie.
He said: “I am so pleased I could complete the challenge and show what is possible and hopefully inspire others to go and run, jog or walk and benefit from more physical exercise. It has been a tough challenge in many ways but the support has been fantastic.”
The main reason for the challenge was to raise much needed funds for the charity and so far nearly £20,000 has been raised with Fossil, the fashion brands company based in Milton Keynes donating £5,000 as the main sponsors.
The money raised will help Climb Your Mountain deliver more educational courses and physical activities enabling people to improve their physical and mental health.
Charlie said: “All the effort and pain is worth it if we can raise the money to continue providing more services, activities and opportunities for people to benefit from.”
