A number of people are making their final preparations for the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday making sure they raise as much as possible for their chosen charities.

Claudia Hitner, of Monkston Park, and Russ Godwin of Emerson Valley will be taking on the challenge for Starlight Children’s Charity, which grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes of seriously and terminally ill children.

There are currently 12 children across Buckinghamshire who are waiting to have their wishes granted and so far Claudia and Russ have raised more than £2,000.

Claudia said: “It is every parent’s worst nightmare to have a seriously ill child. Starlight helps poorly kids forget their illnesses and gives them and their families amazing experiences. It is a truly wonderful cause and I am really thrilled to be supporting it.”

With 93p of every pound raised going directly to the cause, the money Claudia raises will make a massive difference to very poorly children in Buckinghamshire and across the UK.

To sponsor Claudia visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/claudiasfundraising or call Starlight on 020 7262 2881.

Suhail Hanif will also be taking on the historic race and will be running for NSPCC’s new helpline which encourages people to call them if they think a child is being abused.
