In the year of the London 2012 Olympics, the Theatre District has promised this year’s Mascot Olympics and Family Day will be the biggest AND best yet!

The date has been set for Saturday 16th June 2012. Organisers are now appealing for the public to nominate their favourite charity to be recipients to the funds raised on this day. Last year, MK Play Association was nominated and selected as the charity of the event and raised near to £1000 as well as reaching out to hundreds of local people by raising their profile.

Sara Mills, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Theatre District, said: “Each year we like to give a new Milton Keynes-based charity the chance to be our charity of the Mascot Olympics.

“Last year was the biggest so far and hundreds of people turned up to take part in many of the free events and activities on the day. It’s a great family day for everyone and a wonderful opportunity for our charity to engage with the public.”

The 2012 Mascot Olympics will see the return of 20-30 mascots from all around the country taking part in six Olympic-themed events. Also confirmed so far is the funfair and MK Parkour (free runners). More details will follow nearer the time.
