Mayor of Milton Keynes Brian White hopped onboard a Segway this week thanks to city based pursuit centre Experience the Country
After a brief training session in the events warehouse, where the Mayor had the opportunity to get to grips with the battery-powered vehicle, Mr White went for a ‘Segway Safari’ across the scenic grounds at Hounslow Hall Estate, Newton Longville.
Limited to four miles per hour in training mode, Segways can reach up to 12 miles per hour when unleashed on the 800 acre outdoor environment, with the Mayor thoroughly enjoying his time on the two-wheeled machine controlled by the user’s body movements.
The Mayor, who was offered the chance to take part in activities as varied as Kayaking and Laser Tag, as well as the traditional Archery and Clays, spent the second part of his day in the passenger’s seat of a 4x4 as leading British Off Road Driving Association (BORDA) instructor Mark Stopps took him across the three mile multi-terrain off road course.
Despite the best efforts of a storm attempting to put a dampener on the day, staff at ‘Experience the Country’ were unmoved as they continued to watch and wave through the elements as the Mayor was driven leisurely through the course.
The day proved to be a success for all, with Mr White embracing the exciting country pursuits the centre has to offer.
