A teenage driver could clinch the a national motoring crown next week - despite being too young to even have her licence.
16-year-old Katrina Mitchell has qualified for the national final for the title of the UK’s Best Young Driver competition.
More than 350 youngsters entered, and Katrina qualified for the final after her performance at the regional heats held at Milton Keynes Academy.
She impressed judges with a series of driving skills and manoeuvres, including parallel parking, figures of eight, a turn in the road, steering, judgement and positioning, as well as during an online driving simulator.
Katrina said: “I am really pleased and surprised to have made the final. I have had eight Young Driver lessons now and I think they will definitely help me to be a safer and more confident driver when I take to the road for real.
“All the Young Driver instructors are great; they help you understand the responsibilities of driving and encourage you to progress each lesson.
“I am a bit nervous about the final but I’m also looking forward to it and hoping everything goes well as there are some great prizes on offer if I win.”
