For the first year ever, Midsummer Place will host a Christmas light switch on November 23 from 4pm.

The Midsummer Place Christmas Parade, partnered with the popular Gulliver’s Land has been billed as a magical and enchanted event to mark the start of Christmas. Featuring over 20 loveable mascots, elves and fairies, this event is for the whole family and will finish with the lighting of the Oak Tree.

From 4pm, the mascots including Gully & Gilly Mouse, Percy the Pig, MKFM’s Samantha the Panther, Leo the Lion, Sizzle the Dragon, Percy Penguin, Rocking Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and of course Santa, will parade around the Centre starting in the Boulevard between GAP and Zara. Follow the parade around the Oak tree, past Lego and Debenhams, then past Timberland, before finishing back in Oak Court. From there, Gully & Gilly Mouse will perform the ‘lighting of the tree’ show before the build-up to the light switch on. This will include Christmas songs for everyone to sing and the magical appearance of the festive Fairy.

With the help of some fairy dust, the Midsummer Place Oak will illuminate with a thousand lights and a blizzard of real snow to mark the start of Christmas in Midsummer Place. The mascots will be staying around for photos after the event and every child will get a free park entry ticket to Gulliver’s Land for the February Half Term 2014.

General Manager, Martin Hindson is delighted to bring a new feel to the Shopping Centre, he said: “Each year we put up our lights but we have never truly marked this in the way that we will do this year. This is a wonderful family feel-good event and we hope it brings festive cheer throughout the Shopping Centre.”

Mascots will be in Midsummer Place Shopping Centre from 11am on November 23 for customers to meet and greet plus there are tons of early Christmas pressies to be won.
