Two Milton Keynes cat lovers came up with the purrfect way to support Cats Protection – by running car boot stalls to swell funds.

And this week, after 13 years of selling, they have reached a milestone – and raised £40,000 for the MK branch.

Jacquie and Dave Lowe originally adopted two cats from the branch back in 2003, having fell in love with a frequent feline visitor belongingto a neighbour.

And then they decided they wanted to do a little extra, and help raise necessary funds for the charity.

“We already had experience of doing car boot sales and we realised the branch could do with some more money to rescue and rehome more cats that need it.

“Some people think we are crazy for getting up at 4am on Sundays, but we love cats so much, they are definitely worth it,”they said.

As a token of their appreciation, Cats Protection gave the couple a cat sculpture to mark the achievement.

Jacqui and Dave always need good quality bric-a-brac to sell on their stall.
