Milton Keynes college showcases its stars of the future

Students from Milton Keynes College took centre stage with a series of spectacular demonstrations, performances and challenges at Middleton Hall, thecentre:mk for the Stars of the Future showcase.

Spread across four days last week, the Stars of the Future event gave a platform for the College’s students to demonstrate the skills and abilities they have learned at College, with many of the activities making up the learners’ end of year assessments.

Each of the four days had its own individual theme , with the first day dedicated to the Creative Art Exhibition with demonstration boards showcasing students’ work.

Friday’s events focused on the College’s Hair and Beauty department, including the live finals of the MK Barber of the Year contests, with both students and professionals being put to the test.

Saturday was devoted to the College’s Performing Arts, Fashion and Make-up Artistry courses with an array of musical and theatrical performances and catwalk shows.

Sunday’s events put the College’s Catering and Hospitality courses in the spotlight, with highlights including a Father’s Day cooking challenge between the College’s catering course leader and his own son.

MK College’s Commercial Director Jane Horridge said: “Stars of the Future has proved to be another outstanding event that demonstrates the high levels of professional and industry-ready talent that is being developed across the College.

“Throughout the four days, we have seen large crowds visiting Middleton Hall and enjoying the on-stage activities – we’ve seen so many people who have been completely engaged by all the performances, challenges and exhibitions.
