Milton Keynes Market underwent a colourful and energetic transformation on Saturday with an ‘open day’ in a fresh bid to alter people’s perception of it and attract new visitors.

One of the highlights on a day of music, dance and children’s activities was a performance by the MK Chinese Fan Dancers (pictured by Simon Marsden).

There was also African and Asian music, a fashion show, kids’ face painting and lots of tasty food.

Elizabeth Hobbs, chair of the city’s branch of the National Market Traders’ Federation, said: “We had the idea of thanking all of our customers who have supported us through thick and thin, as well as to celebrate what is a lively cultural melting-pot at the heart of CMK.”
