Milton Keynes primary school celebrates fifth art gallery exhibition

Milton Keynes Primary PRU are celebrating their fifth 'Every Child is an Artist' Art Gallery exhibition today.

The children have been exploring the work of Environmental Artist, Andy Goldsworthy for the past half term.

They have explored the texture and pattern using Living materials and decaying materials and discovered Andy’s awesome Environmental Art through their research and investigation.

They have created their own environmental art, in the spirit of Andy Goldsworthy and this was launched in their very own exhibition in their art gallery.

Headteacher of Milton Keynes Primary PRU, Vivienne Mills said: “Milton Keynes Primary PRU recognises Art as an important means for self-expression and for freedom of expression.

“We recognise that art enhances children’s cognitive processes, involving children in problem solving, thinking, and using symbol systems to record their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. One aspect of teaching art is to bring the child’s view, as depicted through their art, to a wider audience.

“Our “Every Child is an Artist” Art Gallery provides the children with a beautiful space to present, celebrate and communicate about their art.

“The process provides an opportunity for deep learning cross curricular activity”.

“Families and invited guests gathered at the exhibition on 31st March, when the children proudly shared their portfolio of work.”
