Milton Keynes’ two Conservative MPs have issued a joint statment on Brexit.
MK North MP Mark Lancaster voted to stay in, while his MK South colleague Iain Stewart backed Leave.
But they united today to tell the Citizen: “Clearly Milton Keynes and the UK have made a clear decision on our future relationship with the EU. It was a huge exercise of democracy and it is important that we accept the majority view.”
They added: “We now need a time of stability and both us will be working to ensure Milton Keynes economy continues to be successful and adapts to the new political environment.
“There are challenges and huge opportunities ahead for us all but it is important we are united at this time and work in the best interests of Milton Keynes.”
Earlier today government junior minister Mark Lancaster warned the UK could suffer “short-term economic turbulence” following the vote.
