AFTER a year’s hard work the Milton Keynes Model Railway Society finally unveiled its new outdoor track at Bletchley Park last week.
And such was the importance of the event that representatives from three of the biggest model railway companies – Bachmann, Hornby and PECO – were on hand to officially open it.
The new layout has taken around a year to build and has replaced a previous layout that was on the same site for around 10 years before that. The new facility will offer tracks for 45mm, 32mm and 16.5mm trains to run on and there are five circuits. The two 16.5mm circuits use close to 69 yards of PECO Streamline track.
The event was organised to coincide with the Warley Model Railway Club Exhibition sponsors’ meeting which took place at Bletchley Park – which has been the home of the MKMRS since 1994.
The Warley MRC meeting organises the UK’s largest model railway exhibition every year at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham and Milton Keynes MRS was delighted to host the event which has previously been held on a number of preserved railways.
