AMATEUR film makers are being urged to pitch their productions to their MP.

A national competition - Film the House – is being through the House of Commons in an attempt to celebrate up-and-coming amateur producers, directors and script writers.

Entrants will be competing for the chance to win a screening of their film to industry executives at the Commons.

Categories include drama, thriller, action, comedy, music video, documentary, as well as a separate category for under 18s which can be any genre. People need to enter before June 30.

Milton Keynes South MP Iain Stewart will nominate his top film from his constituency for the national competition, which aims to also raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights, film and the creative industries.

He said: “This competition is a great opportunity for aspiring film makers of any age looking to find a way into the industry. I am excited to see the films that people from my constituency can come up with, and hope to see as many submissions as possible.”

Winners will be announced on October 30 at a special reception and screening of the winning film at the House of Parliament.
