City MP and qualified bomb disposal expert, Mark Lancaster, has been honoured by Prime Minister David Cameron for his 23 years of service in the Territorial Army. He was awarded the Volunteer Reserve Service Medal at a ceremony in Downing Street this week.
The experienced serviceman said of the award: “Like many others I am a proud member of the TA and obviously it is a great honour for me that the Prime Minister would present this award. Milton Keynes is fortunate to have two TAs and I would encourage anybody in the city who is looking for a challenge to consider joining”.
Mark, still a serving member of the TA, joined the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers straight from school and has been on active service three times. His first assignment was in Kosovo, before being sent to Bosnia and most recently Afghanistan in 2006.
