MP for Milton Keynes South, Iain Stewart starred in a debate in Parliament promoting the case for the East West Rail link.

Chris Wright, Secretary of Oxon and Bucks Railway Action, OBRAC said Mr Stewart presented an accomplished speech, presenting the strong arguments for the link set to create 12,000 jobs, generate £38m a year for the economy and £17m in taxes.

He also said journey times would be slashed to 35 minutes and more than 1.5m cars would be taken from the roads.

Mr Stewart said: “I have long been a supporter of the East-West Rail project, and by setting up the All Party Group, we will have the opportunity to work closely together with the Consortium to promote the concept and raise its profile on the political agenda.”
