Seven bundles of joy were welcomed into the world on New Year’s Day.
Midwives delivered the first seven babies of 2016 at MK Hospital.
Leading the way was Sanskriti Painuly who was thrilled to give birth to daughter Aarunya at 00.46am – three days late.
The new mum said: “Fireworks were going off in the background as I gave birth. It was lovely to welcome her on New Year’s Day.”
The next bouncing baby girl was beautiful Emilia-Poppy. Mum Laura Ali arrived at the hospital at around 10pm on New Year’s Eve before her 9lb 1oz baby arrived at 4.08am.
The third-time mum said it was “strange” to be preparing to give birth.
“Everyone kept telling me it was midnight, but I said ‘I’m a little busy here’.”
During the early hours of 2016, MK hospital staff also helped deliver for proud new mums Nicola Jellis at 3.09am and Carly Martin at 4.08am.
In the afternoon and evening three more babies were born at 4.26pm, 6.06pm and 10.22pm.
