Nativity warms hearts and feet

THE Baby Jesus came to Great Brickhill – despite the freezing weather.

The villages annual Nativity play took place last week as a cast of brave performers, including eight-month-old Imogen Smith – who played Jesus – fought through the cold to put on a great performance.

On Sunday, December 19, people gathered opposite the Bethlehem Inn, otherwise known as the Old Red Lion, as Reverend John Waller led the ceremony.

Soon Mary and Joseph followed down Pound Hill asking where the nearest inn was. Eventually, as history dictates, they were led to a stable where Baby Jesus was born.

The Holy family were then paid a visit by residents Mac and Sue Head’s snow covered sheep and three Kings. Carol singing, readings from the Bible and a tasting of mulled wine made by resident Tim Amies concluded the proceedings.

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 4 in the Parish Hall from 7.30pm.
