A man objecting to a proposals to build 53 new houses in Wain Close, Wavendon, claims the plan would open the floodgates to future developments.
Nick Luke, of Woburn Sands, has now set up a campaign to fight the planning application, which was submitted to Milton Keynes Council last week, and is hoping to encourage people to write letters of objection.
He said: “If approved, Frosts’ application, currently classified as open countryside, would have devastating consequences for all residents of Wavendon, Woburn Sands, Aspley Guise and other communities.
“What’s more the land falls outside the core strategy for the future development of Milton Keynes.
“If it got the go-ahead it would give the green light to a swathe of developments such as that proposed by Storey Homes some years ago.
“With outstanding plans for some 20,000 dwellings including 3,000 on land close to Wavendon and 500 in Woburn Sands already approved, there is simply no need for these extra houses.
“In addition, access into and out of the site would add to the traffic congestion on Newport Road, which already faces problems with the 3,000 houses planned near the Kingston roundabout.”
David Lock, of agents David Lock Associates, said: “Residents are being led to believe that ‘open countryside’ is a drop dead policy which stops all development. It isn’t, and it doesn’t. Every case must be considered on its merits.”
The 14.5 acre site is used for storage and maintenance facilities but Frosts say it has outgrown the facility and plans to relocate to more industrial premises.
