An indoor trampolining centre is set to open in Milton Keynes creating 60 new jobs.
Bounce GB Managing Director, Gary Knil, said: “Indoor trampoline is a concept that began in the States less than eight years ago and already there are a 144 parks operating throughout the US with a further 30 opening around the world this year alone.
“It started as a dry weather practice venue for extreme sports like snowboarding but now parks include Dodgeball and somersault pits and the kids just love it.”
Bounce GB will open on Peverel Drive, a stone’s throw from Stadium MK, and will have 82 separate trampolines in 21,000 sq ft of floor space.
Mr Knil added: “We are working with Job Centre Plus and Milton Keynes College to create a sector-based work academy so we can meet all our recruitment needs locally. We believe it’s important to use local support services wherever possible so we’re talking to several flooring companies and local furniture businesses in terms of the fit out. We have a local project planner, 3rd Party Delivery and Parias Commercial Interiors from Tongwell is doing the construction work. Everything possible is being sourced nearby.”
Such is the popularity of the new sport that online there are more than 1,500,000 videos promoting and celebrating trampoline parks. The sprung surfaces cover floor and walls without any of those slightly worrying gaps between the springs normally associated with more traditional equipment.
The trampolines are two metres by two metres and covered with a special honeycombed matting to protect the people bouncing. The surfaces cover the floors and go six feet up the walls so people can bounce in all directions while having great fun.
Bounce GB aims to have regular clients of all ages but the company particularly expects to be a top venue for children’s parties and for entertainment during school holidays as well as offering something different to the corporate team building market.
The venue is due to open in May.
