TWO guitars were stolen and a man had his back slashed with a knife after five men with balaclavas forced their way into his house yesterday night.

At around 7.20pm the group knocked on the door of the property in Union Street, Newport Pagnell. The 33-year-old victim opened the door, thinking the callers were responding to an advert he had put out to sell two guitars.

The men barged their way in, kicking and punching the victim before taking the guitars and running.

The man was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital where he remains. He is receiving treatment for injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Nick Glister, of Milton Keynes CID, said, “This is an unusual incident that was the result of using a website to advertise valuable musical equipment. While incidents such as these are rare, we would always encourage members of the public to be cautious when advertising items for sale from their homes and about who they let in.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information should call police on 101.
