GOLD medal winning canoe slalom athlete Etienne Stott paid a visit to John Hellins Primary School, Pottersbury on Thursday to open a new library.

The Olympic champion also opened the school’s new classroom and helped staff and pupils celebrate a successful year.

Etienne and his partner, Tim Baillie won gold in the canoe slalom event.

2012 has seen the school receive a successful Ofsted report and pleasing SATs results for their Year Six pupils. The national average of Level 4 was obtained by 95 per cent with more than half achieving Level 5.
