One young Dons fan to win the FA Cup for a night

ONE young Dons fan will not only get the chance to dream about the FA Cup – they will also get the chance to sleep with it this weekend.

Dons’ FA Cup second round tie against AFC Wimbledon has certainly captured the imagination of the football world, and the Football Association is giving one young fan and his or her family the chance to get up close and personal with the most famous trophy in the world.

The FA Cup will be on display in Midsummer Place shopping centre this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with football fans free to have their picture taken with it, as well as enter this once in a lifetime competition.

Any child under the age of 12 can enter, but they need a parent or guardian’s permission to do so. The trophy will then be delivered to the winner’s house on Sunday evening and collected again on Monday morning, ready to go back on display in Midsummer Place for another day.

There are some rules involved, including no more than eight people allowed in the winner’s house at any one time. Two security guards will remain outside the house all night, and the FA reserves the right to take back the trophy if it sees fit to do so.

So, if you fancy tucking your son or daughter into bed with the FA Cup on Sunday night, get along to Midsummer Place.
